Asylum

A cell, a set of cuffs and a voice on the intercom that knows your name.

Asylum is the only horror room playing in all three cities, which makes it the cleanest comparison in the guide. Northbridge has run it longest; its 2,753 games are the most of any horror listing.

Official site

Asylum has its own site with the full story, every rule and its leaderboard. Horrorscape keeps this page short on purpose: the live numbers, how it compares, and where to book.

The Asylum room was so much fun and just the right amount of scary! (But definitely not for those afraid of the dark 🤭) Definitely worth checking out if you're looking for an escape room. Matt was great and helped us know what to expect for when we got inside the room ☺️

Questions, answered

Asylum: questions

Is there a psychological horror escape room?

Asylum is the one. Its tagline is “It’s all in your head”: you wake restrained in a padded cell that smells of bleach while a voice on the intercom promises therapy until you’re cured, and much of the fear comes from darkness, sound and what you imagine is in the cell with you. Escape This runs it in Northbridge, Sydney CBD and Melbourne CBD.

Is the same horror room harder in Perth than in Sydney?

By the numbers, usually yes. Of the 6 Escape This horror rooms playing in both cities, 6 have a lower escape rate in Northbridge, for example The Possession (35% against 69%) and Cannibal (33% against 49%). The sets are separate builds of the same story.
